Yellowstone National Park
We are back from the mobilephone and internet free zone with a whole lot of new pictures, impressions and a small accident.
From the campground in the north of Salt Lake City (landmark A), we drove to another near the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park (landmark B). There, we stayed one night, then moved to another campground within the park.
Staying there for two nights, we visited different places of the park, which by the way is just atop a gigantic active volcano. We for example visited geysirs and sulphure cascades (I ommitted the single waypoints on the map).
Moreover, the fauna is impressive: More than one time, a heard of large Bisons crossed the street in front of us, making us stop for some time, just because the bisons are not known to running away from anything – we had to wait until they left the road voluntarily.
The temperatures are – like the vegetation, which changed to dense coniferous woodlands – very different to the south. Since we reside at very high altitude (more than 7.000 ft), temperatures go down to the low 30s in fahrenheit. This is why our fridge cooled much better than we thought so we had frozen milk in the morning (see picture at the bottom of the gallery). Luckily, our RV not only features a powerful air condition, but also a nice propane furnace.
To make things more complete, we also experienced a small motor vehicle accident: On a narrow road, another RV in opposing traffic hit our driver's side mirror even though we were driving as far right as possible (already hitting the white line with our rear tires). Luckily, only the lower wide-angle part was damaged – unlike the mirror of the other RV, which was completely ruined. Well, there's nothing a roll of military-strengh duct tape can't fix for the moment
next days we will look out for a new mirror.
Now, we again reside at the wonderful campground at landmark B, just relaxing one day.
