After being annoyed about myself almost not to have visited anything while living in Ithaca, NY in 2007, I decided to get back to the task this year. This page is divided into parts as follows: First, there is an introduction (you're reading it right now), second, there is a map of the preliminary route (thx 2 Google Maps), and third, there will be travel reports once the trip is started.
We (a team of 5 persons) will be travelling through the west of the US between August 14th and September 15th using at least a 25ft motorhome. As you can see, our route passes many national parks – so there is hope that we present some nice photos. As stated before, the most beautiful will be put on this page regularly.
Just click on a news headline or the link “Read more” to get more information and regarding picture galleries. A comprehensive gallery of all article images is presented here.
Finally, we've found the time to merge and substantially thin out our photo collections from the trip. Then, with 3000 photos left, we made up a “best of” gallery of 135 ones.
Large panorama pictures rendered of many separate ones.
The last week of our trip, we spent around San Francisco at different locations of the west coast.
Some pictures from Yosemite National Park.
From afternoon till night, we drove through Death Valley. On our way to Yosemite, we had to drive a large detour caused by forest fires.
City of massive sensory overload
Last days, we collected whole lots of miles, visited the beautiful Bryce Canyon, and made it to Las Vegas, visiting Hoover Dam on the route.
We are back from the mobilephone and internet free zone with a whole lot of new pictures, impressions and a small accident.
Yesterday, we visited the Arches National Park, an today, we started the long way to Yellowstone
After Lake Havasu, we took a part of the historic route 66 to Grand Canyon, stayed overnight, and drove to Monument Valley.
Through the Mohave Desert, we drove to Lake Havasu. On our way, we visited Joshua Tree National Park.
Jet lag can be useful to get up early and photograph the morning.
We arrived on time, went through Los Angeles a bit and received our Motorhome today.
At Frankfurt Airport, we are now waiting for our flight to London.
From August 14th to September 15th, we (a travel team of 5 persons) travel through the West of the US in a motorhome.
The route may tape some time to load (which is up to Google, not me
) – but in return, it is kind of interactive. All in all, the route is about 3.000 miles long, which is pretty easy to manage in 4 weaks of motorhome driving. However, I think there will be lots of miles driven spontaneously.
In general, we want to start in Los Angeles and drive a big curve through the inner of the contry, finally reaching San Francisco. Once the route has finished loading, click on the single waypoints to get more information.
